Funeral services for Donna Jean Red Eyes-Starr, age 67, will be at 8:00 AM on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Porcupine Day School Gymnasium in Porcupine, SD with Reverend Pedro Sharpfish, William “Bill” Quijas and Reverend Abraham Tobacco officiating.
Burial will be at 12:30 PM on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 2:30 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Porcupine Day School Gymnasium in Porcupine, SD.
Donna was born on September 3, 1948 in Pine Ridge, SD to Rueben Red Eyes and Thelma Delia War Bonnett. She passed away on April 18, 2016 at the PineRidgeIHSHospital in Pine Ridge, SD.
Donna is survived by son Valentine Marrufo of Martin, SD; adopted children Derek “Rangy” Bettelyoun of Batesland, SD and Margo McCloud of Reno, NV; brothers Myron Red Eyes of Broken Bone, NE and Cecil Red Eyes of Sturgis, SD; sisters Ruby Weston of Porcupine, SD, Hildreth Red Eyes of Lincoln, NE, Eldena Ice of Wounded Knee, SD, Danelle Fast Wolf of Allen, SD, Etheleen Red Eyes of Minneapolis, MN and Belinda Red Eyes of Martin, SD; grandson Anthony Gomez of Batesland, SD; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Donna was preceded in death by parents Rueben Red Eyes and Thelma War Bonnett; husband Harry Starr; and sister Clarinthia “Cindy” Red Eyes-Garcia.
Pallbearers will be Russell First, Darwin Eagle Elk, Derek “Rangy” Bettelyoun, Jerry Horse Jr., Tom Brings, Garry Rowland Jr., Dillon Marrufo, Calvin Ghost Bear, Ray Briggs, and Jonathan Horse.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Donna Jean Red Eyes-Starr.
