Memorial services for Gary Heckman, age 72, of Crawford, NE, will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the First Congregational Church in Crawford.
A memorial has been established. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Gary was born on May 10, 1943 in Lincoln, NE. Eleven months later, he and his sister, Judy, were adopted by Ben and Irene Heckman of Crawford, NE. He attended country school and Crawford High School, transferring to Chadron Prep School, where he graduated in 1961. On August 5, 1962, he married Barbara Jean Redfern. Two sons were born, Rocky in 1969 and Robby in 1973.
Gary worked on the farm with his dad, but photography was his passion. He attended Brooks Photography Institute in Santa Barbara, CA. Gary and Barb owned and operated G&B Photo in Chadron and later Richard’s photography in Beatrice, NE. In 1983, they moved to Arvada, CO and later to Colorado Springs, CO, where they operated an advertising specialties business. They returned to Crawford in 1999 to take care of Gary’s mother.
Gary was affiliated with the Masonic Lodge, Congregational Church, and the Western and Wildlife art show. He enjoyed model airplanes, painting, and golf.
Survivors include wife Barbara; sons Rocky and wife Stefanie of Canberra, Australia and Rob of San Diego, CA; grandchildren Hattie Beth, Adric, Elyssia, and Keirelli; and sister Judy (Jim) Cook of Crawford, NE.
