A Mass of Christian Burial for 62-year old Michelle Ann "Micky" Crowe of Denver will be Tuesday morning May 24 at 10 am in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge with Father Christopher Johnson, S.J. & Mr. Charles McGaa officiating.
Burial services will be held at a later date.
A one-night wake service will be held Monday, May 23, also at the Sacred Heart Catholic on Monday, May 23, starting at 3:00 PM, with a rosary service that evening at 7:00 PM,
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements for Michelle Ann "Micky" Crowe.
Michelle “Micky” Ann (Matthews) Crowe was born on September 15, 1953 at Pine Ridge, SD to Gilbert L. and Evelyn “Inie” (Ecoffey) Matthews. She went to school at Shannon County Elementary School and graduated from the Oglala Community High School in 1971.
Micky attended Montana State College in Billings, MT in the mid 1970’s and a while in Texas in the late 1970’s where she received a cosmetology training and certification. Micky worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide at numerous Health Care facilities in Denver, CO until she became disabled.
Micky was talented in many ways, she enjoyed sewing and doing beadwork. She made a buckskin doll whose dress and accessories were of the same design as the trademark dress worn by her grandmother, Rose Ecoffey. The doll was shown in an exhibit that recognized and honored her grandmother, also known as Princess Blue Waters, by the Wyoming State Museum in Cheyenne, WY. Micky was a generous person and could always see humor in most situations.
Micky is survived by her husband Steve Knitter of Denver, CO; her five children, Daryl Wolf Black and Robert Fire Thunder both of Pine Ridge, SD, Scott Bad Milk of Fallbrook, CA, Misty Crowe of Pierre, SD, and Dawn (Carlos) Henry of Rapid City, SD; thirteen grandchildren; sisters, Darlyne Clements of Pine Ridge, SD, Marirose (Robert) Morris of Cheyenne, WY, and Ilona Matthews of Little Rock, AR; brother, Robert (Uta) Matthews of Rapid City, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Micky was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gilbert L. Matthews and Daryl Wayne Matthews; and nephew, Robert Matthews.
