06/06/2016 - Leonard (Lenny) Sitting Up
Funeral services for Leonard “Lenny” Joseph Sitting Up, age 22, will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Crazy Horse School Commons Area in Wanblee, SD with The Reverend Harold Eagle Bull officiating.
Burial will be at the Gethsemane Episcopal Church Cemetery in Wanblee, SD.
A two-night wake service will start at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Crazy Horse School Commons Area in Wanblee, SD.
Lenny passed away on May 27, 2016 in Martin, SD. He was born March 24, 1994 in Pine Ridge, SD to Janice Sitting Up and Tyrone Marshall. Lenny was raised by grandparents Mae White Bull and Ben Sitting Up and aunt and uncle Jewel and Mike Moore.
Lenny went to kindergarten at C.H.S. and continued his education from 1st grade to 11th grade at KadokaHigh School. He then decided to go to Job Corps in Nemo, SD. He met the love of his life, Toni Good Shield, and to this union, he had two beautiful daughters, Alyvia and Kaedence. They moved to Cass Lake, MN where Toni is from, and Lenny worked at the Palace Casino as a cook and doing various other jobs. He enjoyed being around family and friends. On April 29, 2016, he returned home to be with his mom and dad, aunt and uncle, brothers and sisters who he hadn’t seen for three years.
Lenny was a young man who enjoyed everything life offered. His family is joyed that he was able to experience the diversity of this world, and they are certain that his experiences were cherished by him and will forever remain with him. Such a young life taken too soon.
Lenny is survived by mom Mae White Bull; dad Ben Sitting Up; biological mother Janice Sitting Up; stepdad Buster Senogles Sr. of Wanblee, SD; daughters Alyvia and Kaedence Sitting Up; fiancé Toni Good Shield of Wanblee, SD; brothers Brian Sitting Up of Ada, OK and Benjamin Sitting Up Jr. and Buster Senogles Jr. of Wanblee, SD; sisters Audra Sitting Up and Arlana and LaVonne Senogles of Wanblee, SD; special aunt Jewel and uncle Mike Moore of Wanblee, SD; friends Talana Standing Bear and Kanisha Rooks of Wanblee, SD; special uncles Adam and Aaron Marshall of Rosebud, SD and Gary Moore of Mission, SD; cousins Isaac, Rhiannon, Cole, Amos, Spencer, Edwin, & Angela of Wanblee, SD; great-grandmother Josephine Gerry; godmother Debbie Wright; and relatives from Porcupine, SD, the Mesteth, Weston, Lone Hill, and Two Eagle families.
Lenny was preceded in death by great-grandparents Isaac and Martha (Chips) White Bull; uncles Jon Standing Bear and Rico Ashley Sr.; and godfather Edgar Wright.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Leonard “Lenny” Joseph Sitting Up.
