Funeral services for Matthew Fights Over, age 85, at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2016 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church Hall in Manderson, SD with Father Chris Johnson, S.J., officiating.
Burial will be at the St. Agnes Catholic Church Cemetery in Manderson, SD.
A one-night wake will start at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church Hall in Manderson, SD.
Matthew was a veteran in the U.S. Marines.
Matthew was born on November 16, 1930 in Corsica, SD to Andrew and Fanny (Mountain Sheep) Fights Over. Matthew made his journey to be with the Lord on June 13, 2016 at the RosebudIHSHospital in Rosebud, SD.
Matthew is survived by children Gabrielle Fights Over of Oglala, SD, Noretta Fights Over of Wounded Knee, SD, Matthew Fights Over Jr. of Parmalee, SD, Geraldine Fights Over of Ft. Hall, ID, and Orville Fights Over of Sioux Falls, SD; nieces and nephews Kathy, Jeanette, Rydell and Ramay Eagle Hawk, all of Manderson, SD, Grover Horned Antelope of Rapid City, SD, and Albert Bad Bear Jr. of Porcupine, SD; and grandchildren Sonia Fights Over of Pine Ridge, SD, Tad, Chantz and Dakota High Hawk, all of Wounded Knee, SD, Paula Fights Over of Mission, SD, Karen, Kareen, and Pius Fights Over, all of Parmalee, SD, and Carol Fights Over of North Dakota.
Matthew was preceded in death by parents Andrew and Fanny (Mountain Sheep) Fights Over; sister Edith Eagle Hawk; nephews Cordell and Therman Eagle Hawk; and grandchildren Tonia Fights Over, Ursulla Wheerler/Bissonette and Earl K. Standing Soldier.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Matthew Fights Over.
