Funeral services for Victoria Rae Piper, age 29, will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Wounded KneeDistrictSchool in Manderson, SD with Reverend Simon Looking Elk officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Michael Little Boy Sr. and Stanley Good Voice Elk.
Burial will be at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cemetery in Rockyford, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson, SD.
Victoria was born on January 28, 1987 in Pine Ridge, SD to Michael Piper and Babette Thin Elk. She began her journey to the Spirit World on June 10, 2016 in Rapid City, SD.
Victoria is survived by parents Michael Piper of Pine Ridge, SD and Babette Thin Elk of Manderson, SD; sons Aziliya “AJ” Piper and Arlin Cuny Jr. of Rapid City, SD: brothers Nick Piper and Icamna Spotted Elk of Manderson, SD; sisters Valentina Makes Him First, Vanessa Piper, and Delores Pacheco of Manderson, SD, Lara No Braid of Rockyford, SD, and Larissa No Braid of Denver, CO; grandparents Scotty Brown Eyes of Slim Buttes, SD and Wilma Thin Elk of Manderson, SD; aunts Marlene Piper and Chamblis He Crow of Rapid City, SD, Lena Peters (Will), Belva Thunder Hawk, Priscilla (Richard) Hill, and Jennifer (Wes) Cottier, all of Pine Ridge, SD, Vicenta Cadotte of Denver, CO, AJ No Braid of Rockyford, SD and Carrie Ann White Antelope of Ethete, WY; and uncles Phillip Piper of Rapid City, SD, Ace No Braid of Rockyford, SD, and Nick Halsey of Boulder, CO.
Victoria was preceded in death by grandparents Aloysius Piper, Louella Brown Eyes, Joe Brown Eyes, Joyce Bell, and Orlando Thin Elk; niece Baylee Makes Him First; aunt Valentina Thin Elk; uncle Bob Thunder Hawk; cousins Kerry Peters and Kayla Matthews; nephew Dante Lee Bad Milk; and niece Nizhoni Piper.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Victoria Rae Piper.
