06/28/2016 - Aaron Sidney 'Sid' Hoar
A celebration of life for Aaron Sidney “Sid” Hoar of Crawford, NE will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Christ Community Church in Crawford, NE.
A memorial has been established, and donations may be sent to the Crawford Rescue Unit or Crawford Fire Department.
Sid, the only child of Aaron and Mildred Kinser Hoar, was born on June 28, 1936 in Edgemont, SD. He went to be with Jesus on June 14, 2016, just two weeks short of his 80th birthday and 59th wedding anniversary.
Sid lived most of his life in Crawford, NE. He attended and graduated from high school in Igloo, SD. After graduation, he attended Chadron State College, graduating with a teaching degree in Industrial Arts and Driver’s Education.
On June 28, 1957, he married the love of his life, Carol Darlene Hughes of Crawford, NE. To this union, two daughters were born, Cathy and Jeanne.
He worked in the grocery business his whole life.
Sid loved bowling, playing cards, and watching rodeos, especially the bull riding. His favorite sports teams were the Denver Broncos, the Colorado Rockies, and, of course, the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He especially liked watching his grandchildren play sports for the Crawford Rams team.
Sid had a sense of humor, and anyone who knew him got a taste of his teasing. He was a man of few words, a wonderful listener, and his undeniable understanding of faith and love for Jesus was quietly expressed to his family.
On June 14, 2016, Sid took his final breath of earthly air, threw off the confines of his oxygen tank and tangling hoses, and breathed in the life-giving air of heaven for the first time. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. As his grandson so aptly expressed, “We’ll see you later!”
Survivors include wife Carol of Crawford, NE; daughters Cathy (Gregg) Raben and Jeanne (Robert) Osmotherly of Crawford, NE; grandchildren Gina (Russ) Campbell of Scottsbluff, NE, Jordan (Sarah) Raben of Chadron, NE, Jill (Vaughn) Fahrenbruck of North Platte, NE, Ryan (Michelle) Osmotherly of Crawford, NE, Jarod (Samantha) Osmotherly of Alba, MO, Jason Osmotherly of Omaha, NE, and Taylor Osmotherly of Crawford, NE; great-grandchildren Shawn and Jadyn Raben, Eden, Jasmine, Acacia, Kira, and Bria Campbell, Aspen and Mikah Fahrenbruck, Peyton and Kylee Osmotherly, and Emma, Abbie, Lia, and Jaxon Osmotherly; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
