06/28/2016 - Boyd 'Puzz' Jamison
Funeral services for Boyd “Puzz” Gaylord Jamison, age 79, will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Bates-Gould Funeral Chapel in Alliance, NE with Pastor Andy Safarik officiating.
Burial will follow at the Alliance Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:00-7:00 PMon Monday, June 27, 2016 and on Tuesday morning prior to the service.
A memorial has been established for Prairie Haven Hospice.

Puzz passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Hemingford Community Care Center in Hemingford, NE after a courageous battle with cancer. Puzz was born on July 3, 1936 in Hyannis, NE to Robert and Ellice (Kline) Jamison of Ashby.
Puzz was raised in a family of six boys. He attended school through the 4th grade at District 144 that was just east of their ranch. When it closed, he finished his education through the 8th grade in Ashby, by boarding out through the week and going home on weekends. While in school in Ashby, he held several different jobs including stocking shelves at the grocery store for Bill Carlson. His hard work ethic continued his whole life as he returned to the ranch full-time after 8th grade graduation, helping his mom, Ellice and stepfather Floyd Downing. He loved working on machinery and helping with all phases of ranch work. Puzz enjoyed traveling and seeing the country with his mom and other family members. When her health began to fail, he stayed by her side until her death in 1985.
In late 2012, Puzz suffered a stroke and spent a long time in the hospital and rehab. It was this time that led him to a new chapter in his life, living in Alliance. After a short stay in the nursing home, he was able to move to the Sandhills Assisted Living where Jodi Sutphen, manager at that time, would challenge Puzz to reveal talents he didn’t know existed. Puzz discovered he was very artistic and took pride in working with colors, paints and other crafts. He decorated the home for every season and would make new decorations to hang in the halls. Puzz’s work ethic carried on, as he insisted on helping the staff set the tables, roll silverware and take the trash out. He was not going to sit in his room and watch television all of the time! Puzz considered himself just a pitch player, but soon had learned many new card and board games and loved the challenge of a good game. He had a big heart and loved to be with young and old alike.
Survivors include half-brother George “Bud” Smith of Sheridan, WY; brothers Robert “Bob” (Helen) Jamison of Lake Ozark, MO, Beryle “Burr” Jamison of Ashby, NE, and Burdette “Dean” Jamison of Gordon, NE; nephews Bruce (Amy) Smith of Lolo, MT, Brett (Lara) Smith of Sheridan, WY, Bruce (Jan) Jamison of Kearney, NE, Scott Jamison of Eugene, OR, Monte (Lisa) Jamison of Ashby, NE, Josh (Ann) Jamison of Chadron, NE, and Tim (Lisa ) Jamison of Chadron, NE; nieces Jodi (Grant) Goodrich of Kaiser, MO, Brenda Jamison of Eldon, MO, Janice Jamison of Lake Ozark, MO, Elaine Leonhardt, Rhitta Bounds, and Maurene Smith, all of Mitchell, NE, and Barbi (Eric) Meyer of Lochbuie, CO; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father, mother, sister Betty Lou Smith, nephew Loren Smith, brother William “Bill” Smith, and sister-in-laws Sheri Jamison, Anna Smith, and JoAnn Jamison.
Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Boyd “Puzz” Gaylord Jamison.
