A Mass of Christian Burial for Emma Carmelita (Standing Soldier) Shaw, age 80, will be at 1:30 PM on Monday, June 27, 2016 at St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs, SD with Father Kerry Prendiville officiating.
Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs, SD.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs, SD. Rosary services will be at 7:00 PM.
Emma was born on May 2, 1936 in Hisle, SD to Paul Standing Soldier and Mae (Perez) Standing Soldier. She passed away on June 21, 2016 at the Fall River Health Services in Hot Springs, SD.
Emma is survived by children Loretta (Herman Buckley) Shaw of Buffalo Gap, SD and Michael (Jeanie) Shaw of Polson, MT; grandchildren Rainee (Richard) Garza, Michael Che Shaw, Neil Shaw, Emerson Shaw III, Monica Shaw, Rene Shaw, and Michael Ann Shaw; great-grandchildren Ruth Garza and Jeremy Garza; and great-great grandchildren Angel Garza, Anthony Garza, Jeremy Garza Jr., Silvia Garza, and Samuel Garza.
Emma was preceded in death by parents Paul and Mae Standing Soldier; spouse Emerson Francis Shaw Jr.; daughter Sylvia Plumb; brother Martin Standing Soldier; sisters Julie Hacker, Helen Curtis, Rita Rasmussen, and Lena Pudwill; and lifelong partner Kenneth Larson.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Emma Carmelita (Standing Soldier) Shaw.
