07/04/2016 - Delores Takes War Bonnett
Funeral services for Delores Annette Takes War Bonnett “Kusaya Najin Win,” age 62, will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 4, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD with Reverend Lyle Noisy Hawk Sr., Reverend Harold Eagle, and Reverend Stanley Hollow Horn officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Steve DuBray Sr.
Burial will be at the Yellow Hawk/Broken Rope Family Cemetery in No Flesh, SD.
A two-night wake service will start at 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD.
Pallbearers will be Mike Bissonette, Robert “Bucky” Flores, Justin Mesteth, Mark Hetzel, Basil Broken Rope, Elwin Broken Rope, Wahokiza Broken Rope, and Beau Little Whiteman.
Delores was born on May 20, 1954 in Pine Ridge, SD to Luke and Katie (Yellow Hawk) Broken Rope. She made her journey to the Spirit World on June 23, 2016 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Delores is survived by son Ray Takes War Bonnett Jr. of Allen, SD; daughters Sonia Takes War Bonnett, Rae Takes War Bonnett, Loretta Takes War Bonnett, and Bethel Takes War Bonnett, all of Kyle, SD; brothers Joseph Broken Rope and Elwin Broken Rope of Kyle, SD; sisters Belnita Little Bear of Wounded Knee, SD and Marilyn Morrison of Norris, SD; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Delores was preceded in death by parents Luke Broken Rope and Katie (Yellow Hawk) Broken Rope; spouse, Ray Takes War Bonnett Sr.; brothers Clarence Broken Rope, Irwin Broken Rope, and Daryl John Yellow Hawk Sr.; grandfathers Creighton Broken Rope and Joseph Broken Rope; and sisters Mildred Broken Rope and Lucy Little Whiteman.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Delores Annette Takes War Bonnett “Kusaya Najin Win.”
