Funeral services for Everett Elmer Janis “Hutela Ska,” age 84, will be at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Little Wound High School Gymnasium in Kyle, SD with Reverend Cordelia Red Owl, Reverend Simon Looking Elk, Father Rick Abert, S.J., and Pastor Elton Yellow Boy officiating.
Burial will be at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
A one-night wake service will start at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 4, 2016 at the Little Wound High School Gymnasium in Kyle, SD.
Everett was a veteran in the U.S. Marines. He was born on June 28, 1932 in Kyle, SD to Wilson Janis and Alice Fool Head. He began his journey to the Spirit World on June 28, 2016 in Rapid CityRegionalHospital in Rapid City, SD.
Everett is survived by sons Galen and George Janis, both of Kyle, SD; daughters Melanie, Alice, Sharon and Karlyn Janis, all of Kyle, SD; sisters Mabel Janis of Kyle, SD and Sharon Yellow Boy of Rapid City, SD; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Everett was preceded in death by parents Wilson Janis and Alice Fool Head; wife Velma (Respects Nothing) Janis; sisters Ora Janis, Evelyn Long Soldier, Louise Janis, Eliza Janis, and Isabelle Janis; brother Kenneth Janis; sons Myron Janis and Everett Janis Jr.; grandchildren Tyrell Janis, Jarrod Whistler, and Hope Fire Thunder; and great-grandchild Everett Two Hearts.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Everett Elmer Janis “Hutela Ska.”
