Funeral arrangements for Bruce Bucklee (Buck) Dannar, age 51, of Hays, KS, formerly of Chadron, NE will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Church of Latter Day Saints in Lexington, NE.
Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery.
Buck left this Earth to return to Heaven on Monday, July 4, 2016 in Hays, KS. Buck was born in Chadron on August 11, 1964 to Bruce and Sharon Dannar. Buck was the first of nine children.
Buck attended school in many states as the family moved, but graduated from AdamsCityHigh School in Commerce City, CO. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served a mission for the Church in Indiana. He held many leadership positions in the Church and was also very involved in the Scouting program.
Buck moved to Chadron to be closer to family and worked various jobs around Chadron, including the Saw Mill and Walmart. Buck became a welding instructor at the Pine Ridge Job Corps south of Chadron, which started his career path and led him to colleges in Montana, North Dakota and on to Hays, KS.
While working at Walmart in Chadron, he met his future wife, Lynette Kummer. Buck and Lynette were married on September 15, 2001. As he became a husband, he also became a father to Walker Kummer. Shortly after they were married, they welcomed their first child, Hanna, born on February 22, 2002. Then on November 2, 2004, they welcomed their second daughter, Harlee, into their family.
Buck was a very selfless person and lived his life that way. He never met a stranger or passed up helping anyone in need. He has been referred to as a gentle giant, which he was.
Buck devoted the last 15 years of his life to his wife and his children. They were his biggest blessing of all the jobs he had. Being a husband and a father was his favorite. He never missed a chance to be involved in everything they were. You could always hear him yelling, “That’s my boy” or “That’s my girl.”
He leaves behind wife Lynette; son Walker; daughters Hanna and Harlee; parents Bruce and Sharon Dannar of Basin, WY; sisters Tammy (Shawn) Kuykendall of Casper, WY and Heather (Chris) Pitman of Casper, WY; brothers Mark (Jodi) Dannar of Chadron, NE, Seth (Andy) Dannar of Basin, WY, Robert Dannar of Evanston, WY, Joshua (Suzie) of Lovell, WY, and Zebulon (Amanda) Dannar of Houston, TX; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents and baby sister Rachel.
