07/23/2016 - Jacob Iron Horse Jr.

Funeral services for Jacob Vernel Iron Horse Jr., age 34, will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Pastor Ken officiating.
 
Burial will be at the Hunter Family Cemetery in Calico, SD.
 
A two-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD.
 
Jacob “Jayce” was born on March 18, 1982 to Jacob Iron Horse Sr. and Caroline Hunter in Pine Ridge, SD. He passed away on July 16, 2016 in Osceola, MO.
 
Jayce lived life to the fullest. He was always a happy person, always laughing and joking with everyone. He went to school at Pierre Indian Learning and PineRidgeHigh School and also attended ½ semester of college and received his G.E.D. in Wyoming
 
His favorite aunties were Sis Catches, Wilma Pomani, Therese Hunter, and Renae Black Elk. There was never a dull moment with Jayce. There was always something he had to do. He was a get-go guy. He loved Alfernando Hunter and ShaLaya Shott and all his nephews and nieces, especially Talia-Jontay, his little sister.
 
Jacob is survived by mother Caroline G. Hunter of Pine Ridge, SD; father Jacob V. Iron Horse Sr. of #4 Community; siblings Monte Hunter of Pine Ridge, SD, Jeremy Iron Horse Sr. of Rapid City, SD, Jasmine Iron Horse of #4 Community, Jensine Iron Horse of Allen, SD, Jamar Iron Horse and Tiana Hunter of Pine Ridge, SD, and Tayia Hunter of Fort Defiance, AZ; and uncle Ralph Hunter of Fort Defiance, AZ.
 
Jacob was preceded in death by grandparents Evalyon Catches-Hunter, Lawrence Hunter, Bertha Wounded, Jackson Iron Horse, Jamie Iron Horse, Misty Hunter, Jackie Iron Horse, Danielle Iron Horse, Jon-Tay Iron Horse, Kate Catches, and Carolyn Tobacco; uncles Victor Wounded, Phillip Elk Boy, Sylvester Tobacco, and Dale Catches Sr.; great-grandmother Rose Catches; aunts Karyn Wounded, Shirley Bell, Angelina Red Cloud, and Stephanie Tobacco; and cousins Alfernando Black Feather and Leo Black Feather.
 
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Jacob Vernel Iron Horse Jr.
