Funeral services for Frank David Gay “Cetan Hota Hoksila,” age 44, will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, SD with Father Rick Abert, S.J., officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Richard Moves Camp.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Hisle, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31, 2016 at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, SD.
Frank was born on July 21, 1972 in Pine Ridge, SD to Robert Gay Sr. and Colleen Long Soldier-Bettelyoun. He made his journey to the Spirit World on July 24, 2016 in Martin, SD.
Frank is survived by mother Colleen Bettelyoun of Wanblee, SD; stepfather Larry Bettelyoun Sr. of Wanblee, SD; daughters Kiona Gay of Allen, SD, Lluvia Orozco-Gay of Scottsbluff, NE and Aleesia (Dillon) Gay, Nataja Gay, and Shayla Gay, all of Rapid City, SD; brothers Royce Gay of Phillip, SD, Robert Gay of Springfield, MO, Larry Bettelyoun Jr. and Brett Bettelyoun of Wanblee, SD, and Michael Gay of New Mexico; sister Shonna Bettelyoun of Wanblee, SD; grandmothers Francine Red Willow of Wanblee, SD and Mabel Janis of Kyle, SD; aunts Delores Long Soldier and Sharon Yellow Boy of Rapid City, SD, Annie Brings Him Back and Eileen Running Bear of Pine Ridge, SD, and Delphine One Horn of Kyle, SD; uncles Charles Long Soldier of Kyle, SD and Alvin Long Soldier of Denver, CO; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Frank was preceded in death by father Robert Gay Sr.; two sisters; great-grandmother Elizabeth Randall-Long Soldier; great-grandfather Antoine Long Soldier; grandfather Francis Long Soldier; grandmother Evelynn Janis-Long Soldier; aunt Margaret Thorsen; and uncle Joe Gay.
