07/30/2016 - Michael 'Mike' Tobacco
Funeral services for Michael “Mike” Damien Tobacco, age 24, will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Father Joe Daoust and Pastor Ken Trivette officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Peta Catches.
Burial will be at the Holy Rosary Catholic Mission Cemetery in Pine Ridge, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 3:30 PM on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD.
Michael was born on December 1, 1991 in Pine Ridge, SD to Sylvester Tobacco and Angelina Red Cloud-Tobacco. He made his journey to the Spirit World on July 21, 2016 near Pine Ridge, SD.
Michael is survived by siblings Willie Wounded of #4 Community, Ezra Tobacco and Cowboy Tobacco of Grand Island, NE, Dallas Tobacco and Legend Tobacco of Pine Ridge, SD, and Essence Tobacco of Pine Ridge, SD; grandmother Rachel Chief Eagle of #4 Community; aunts Michelle Janis of Rapid City, SD, Mary Tobacco, Ann Tobacco, Nola Saucedo, Dorothy Tobacco, and Sylvia Tobacco, all of Pine Ridge, SD, Caroline Hunter of Calico, SD, Carol Wounded-Staples, Theresa Hunter, Wilma Pomani, and Renae Black Elk, all of Pine Ridge, SD, and Judy Slow Bear, Lois Slow Bear, and Janet Cheyenne, all of Oglala, SD; and uncles Steve Tobacco of Rapid City, SD, Gaylen Holy Rock of Oglala, SD, Joe Catches of Pine Ridge, SD, Jacob Iron Horse Sr., Norbert Bell, Peta Catches, Vincent Black Feather, Viron Black Feather, and Delmar Dreaming Bear, all of #4 Community, Cordell Slow Bear of Hot Springs, SD, and Calvert Dreaming Bear of Denver, CO.
Michael was preceded in death by parents Sylvester Tobacco and Angelina Red Cloud-Tobacco; siblings Dusty Louis Tobacco and Ezrelda Tobacco; grandparents Stephen and Caroline Tobacco and Pedro Red Cloud Sr.; and aunts and uncles Stephanie Sitting Holy, Darrell “Cowboy” Tobacco, and Philip Elk Boy.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Michael “Mike” Damien Tobacco.
