07/30/2016 - Floyd John Walks Out
Funeral services for Floyd John Walks Out “Zuya Tehila,” age 69, will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Recreation Center in Oglala, SD with Pastor Jackson Helstad officiating.
A scattering of the ashes will be on Sunday, July 31, 2016 in the Black Hills.
A one-night wake service will begin at 5:00 PM on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the RecreationCenter in Oglala, SD.
Floyd was a veteran in the U.S. Army. He was born on June 19, 1947 in Oglala, SD to Asa Walks Out and Elizabeth Blacksmith. He made his journey to the Spirit World on July 21, 2016 in Cheyenne River Eagle Butte, SD.
Floyd was the tenth child of Asa Walks Out and Elizabeth Blacksmith. He served two tours in Vietnam 1967-1969. He was a Ranger and in Special Forces and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantry MCN Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze service stars with Valor, Army Commendation Medal, and Parachute Badge. He was honorably discharged after serving three years.
Floyd is survived by sons Asa Walks Out of Milwaukee, OR and Tyrone Rocky Mountain of Denver, CO and sisters Aurelia Two Crow, Norma Blacksmith and Minerva Blacksmith of Oglala, SD.
Floyd was preceded in death by parents Asa Walks Out and Elizabeth Blacksmith; brothers Hermus, Albert, Asa, Leonard, Walter and Frank Walks Out; and sister Florence Cross Dog.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Floyd John Walks Out “Zuya Tehila.”
