Funeral services for Gansler Joseph Janis, age 75, at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD with Father Edmund Yainao, S.J. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Rick Two Dogs.
Burial will be at 2:30 PM on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Black HillsNationalCemetery in Sturgis, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 4:30 PM on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD.
Gansler was a veteran in the U.S. Army and Navy. He was born on October 15, 1940 in Pine Ridge, SD to Henry and Zona (Hawk Wing) Janis. He made his journey to the Spirit World on August 7, 2016 in Sturgis, SD.
Gansler is survived by brother Richard (Arlene) Janis of Rapid City, SD; sisters Zona (Art) Tomsha of Auburn, WA and Ramona Long of White River, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gansler was preceded in death by parents Henry and Zona (Hawk Wing) Janis; brothers Godfrey, Carl, Harvey, Garfield, Greely, Henry, and Nicholas Janis; and sister Vienna Bad Milk.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Gansler Joseph Janis.
