Funeral services for Bernard Little Whiteman will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Batesland School Gymnasium in Batesland, SD with Reverend Cordelia Red Owl and Senior Catechist Ben Conquering Bear officiating.
Burial will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Lakota Freedom Veterans Cemetery in Kyle, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 11:00 AM on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Batesland School Gymnasium in Batesland, SD.
Bernard was born on September 4, 1928 at home near Kyle, SD at No Flesh Creek. He passed away on August 11, 2016 at the Hospice of the Hills in Rapid City, SD.
Bernard is survived by children Nadine Blue Bird and Geraldine Little Whiteman of Wakpamni Lake, SD, Louis Little Whiteman of Kyle, SD, Bernadine Tallman of Allen, SD, Emily Standing Soldier of Gordon, NE, and Debbie and Bernadine Blue Bird of Wakpamni Lake, SD; brothers Everett Little Whiteman of Wolf Creek and Ernest Little Whiteman of Rapid City, SD; sisters Alberta Mesteth, Lavina Red Owl, Evelyn Gregg, and Ethel Kills Straight, all of Kyle, SD; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Bernard was preceded in death by parents Louis and Betty (Morrison) Little Whiteman; brothers Aloysius, Willard, Stanley, and Emmett Little Whiteman; three wives that he loved in his own special way; son Bernard Little Whiteman Jr.; grandchildren Basil Jay Little Whiteman, Elvira Little Whiteman, and William Little Whiteman; and six great-grandchildren.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Bernard Little Whiteman.
