Funeral services for Francis Gene Black Elk, age 65, will be at 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 19, 2016 at the Four Winds American Indian Council in Denver, CO. All Spiritual Leaders are welcome to help with the traditional Lakota services.
Burial will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 19, 2016 at the EvergreenMemorial Park in Evergreen, CO.
A one-night wake service will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 18, 2016 at the Four Winds American Indian Council in Denver, CO.
Francis was born on August 1, 1951 in Pine Ridge, SD to Homer and Rose (Wounded Arrow) Black Elk. He made his journey to the Spirit World on August 15, 2016 in Denver, CO.
Francis is survived by sons Gabriel Black Elk of Denver, CO, Sgt. Carlos Dream Black Elk-Anderson of Fort Campbell, KY, and Mahpiya Black Elk of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Whisper (Black Elk) Catches Enemy of Calico, SD; brothers Richard Black Elk of Kyle, SD and Cyrus Black Elk Sr. of Fort Yates, ND; sisters Jean Black Elk of Denver, CO, Janice Black Elk-Jim of Santa Fe, NM, and Carol Ann Weston of Porcupine, SD; and 11 grandchildren.
Francis was preceded in death by parents Homer and Rose Black Elk; son Thunder Black Elk; brother Steven Black Elk; and sister Cindy Black Elk.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Francis Gene Black Elk.
