Jeramy was born to Tom Ward and Marty McCollam on November 11, 1973. He attended Martin Grade School and graduated from Bennett County High School in 1992. Jeramy left for the mountains of Wyoming to pack and guide elk hunters. Here he found a lifelong passion. He made many memories at the top of those mountains; many stories were reminisced over the campfire here at home. In 1997, Jeramy married Janelle Froelich, and Garrett was born to this union. Jeramy and Janelle parted ways shortly thereafter.
In 2001, Jeramy married the love of his life, Lynn Pitout, and to this union, Laska, Ridge, and Gracie were born. Jeramy raised his family on his family ranch north of Martin, where he lived the remainder of his life, enjoying his family, friends, horses and one last elk hunt.
In 2000, Jeramy purchased Devil's Hole Camp and continued packing and guiding elk hunters. As many young guides who entered those rugged mountains agree with the words from Elgin Hines' poem, Band of Brothers, "Those mountains, they taught me to hunt the big country, and pack on a wild ol’ horse, And taught me the value of ridin’ out early but that's just par for the course. They helped me with courage to handle and deal with all sorts of wrecks. Cause when the mountain deals them out, she usually stacks the decks. This is my band of brothers with whom I have been blessed to ride. Men who would give up their lives and fill a man’s soul with pride.”
Jeramy was preceded in death by grandfather Woodrow Ward; grandmothers Lavon Ward (Sis) and Gloria Ann Risse; and stepmother Beverly (Byrne) Ward.
He is survived by wife Lynn Ward; children Garrett, Laska, Ridge, and Gracie Ward; parents Marty McCollam (Kelvin) and Tom Ward (Max); brothers Veron (Laurie) Ward of Belle Fouche, SD and Dalton McCollam of Martin, SD; sister Shilo Krolikowski (Mark) of Martin; grandfather Edmond Risse of Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
