10/13/2016 - Raymond Eagle Elk Sr.

Raymond Owen Eagle Elk Sr. was born on August 7, 1938 in Porcupine, SD to Alexander Eagle Elk and Jenny Takes War Bonnett.  Raymond made his journey to the Spirit World on October 6, 2016 in Pine Ridge, SD. 

Raymond is survived by his children, Raedeen Kay Bartreau, Raymond Owen Fast Horse and Joellen Cochran, all of Kingman, AZ; step-children, Darrell Eagle Bull, Lejtoi Eagle Bull, Walter Mousseau and Hermis John Mousseau, all of Pine Ridge, SD; brothers, Robert Narcis Eagle Elk of Pine Ridge, SD and Donald “Red” Eagle Elk of Aberdeen, SD; sister, Bernadette (Eagle Elk) Clifford; granddaughters, Amari Cordier and Alvina Eagle Bull both of Pine Ridge, SD; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Jenny (Takes War Bonnett) Eagle Elk; life-long partner, Oletha Ann Mousseau; step-son, David Mousseau; siblings, Earl Eagle Elk, Annie Takes War Bonnett, Morris Eagle Elk, and Caroline Packard; granddaughters, Kendra Yellow Boy & Erin Packard; nieces, Louella Packard and Eileen Eagle Elk-Bissonette; nephews, Raymond Clifford and Robert Eagle Elk, Jr.; sister-in-law, Crystal Eagle Elk; and brother-in-law, Emerson Packard.

Wake Services:  One night wake service starting at 4:00 PM, Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the Wolf Creek School Gymnasium.

Funeral Services:  11:00 AM, Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Wolf Creek School Gymnasium

Officiating:  Pastor Simon Looking Elk, Father Peter Klink, S.J., and Mr. Charles McGaa

Traditional Lakota Services:  Mr. Robert Narcis Eagle Elk and Mr. Ty Lunderman

Burial Services:  St. Ann’s Cemetery, Wolf Creek Community
