Funeral services for Lawrence Dewey Witt “Zuya Isnala,” age 88, will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the T.N.T. Rec Center in Wanblee, SD with Sister Connie Schmidt officiating.
Burial will be at the St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery in Wanblee, SD.
A one-night wake service will start at 4:30 PM on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the T.N.T. Rec Center in Wanblee, SD.
A Rosary service will be at 7:00 PM on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the T.N.T. Rec Center in Wanblee, SD.
Visitation services will be from 12:00-2:00 PM on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge, SD.
Lawrence was a veteran in the U.S. Merchant Marines and U.S. Army in World War II.
Lawrence was born on January 16, 1928 in Wanblee, SD to Nathaniel Witt Sr. and Minnie Distribution. He made his journey to the Spirit World on October 23, 2016 in Rapid City, SD.
Lawrence is survived by wife Shirley (Vallier) Witt of Kerrville, TX; brothers Jerome Wayne Witt of Batesland, SD and Lyle Joseph Witt of Hot Springs, SD; sisters Sandra Elaine Witt of Salem, OR and Rebecca Witt of Pine Ridge, SD; cousin Wilber Witt of Kyle, SD; godchildren Lola Gangone of Kyle, SD and Patty Ann (Yellow Boy) War Bonnett of Rapid City, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Lawrence was preceded in death by parents Nathaniel Witt Sr. and Minnie Distribution; first wife Rose (Bear Robe) Witt; brothers Nathaniel Jr., Francis, Nelson, Sidney, Patrick, and James Witt, and William and Lawrence Marvin Mesteth; and sisters Eugenia Witt-Bettelyoun, Mary Ann and Geraldine Witt, and Floretta and Nora Lou Mesteth.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Lawrence Dewey Witt “Zuya Isnala.”
