Corey passed away on November 11, 2016 at his home in Chadron, NE. He was born October 10, 1944 in Hartington, NE to Lyle and Lorine (Lorensen) Sendel. In August 1957, Corey’s family moved to Chadron, NE. Corey graduated from Chadron High School in 1962. He attended Chadron State College, majoring in Physics, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in August 1966.

In January 1967, Corey joined the U.S. Air Force. The next 12 years found him traveling to many different locations, from Colorado to Alaska to Thailand, in service to his country. Corey moved back to Chadron in 1979. He went back to college to study Computer Information Systems, then moved on to obtain a Master of Arts in Education degree from CSC. Corey started working for the Computer Center at Chadron State College in 1983 and worked there until his retirement in 2006.

After retiring, Corey was able to enjoy a dream-fulfilling trip to Australia and New Zealand. His adventures included a wild river ride and a bungee jumping excursion! As a retiree, Corey enjoyed watching TV with his dogs and spending time visiting with his friends, often joking that he wasn't sure what day it was (unless it was Taco Tuesday).

Corey is survived by adopted family Jason, Joby, Lauren, and Bradd Collins and many friends. Corey was preceded in death by parents Lyle and Lorine (Lorensen) Sendel.
