Funeral services for Thomas “Hoksila” Leon Black Eyes Jr. Jumping Eagle, age 44, will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson, SD with Reverend Harold Eagle Bull officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Francis “Chubbs” Thunder Hawk.
Burial will be at St. Thomas Episcopal Cemetery in Manderson, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson, SD.
Thomas was born on August 19, 1972 in Pine Ridge, SD to William Jumping Eagle and Beverly Janis. He made his journey to the Spirit World on November 10, 2016 in Manderson, SD.
Thomas is survived by father William Jumping Eagle of Manderson, SD; hunka parents Earl Tall and Jackie White Hawk of Manderson, SD; son Roger Big Boy-Jumping Eagle; granddaughter Paisley Hunter; sisters Sharon Hirschler of Lincoln, NE, LaDonna Shangreaux of Denver, CO, and Arlene Jumping Eagle, Sarita Richard-Jumping Eagle, Irene Jumping Eagle, Elizabeth Jumping Eagle, Francine Jumping Eagle, and Rebecca Jumping Eagle, all of Manderson, SD; and brothers Noah “Luta” Janis of Denver, CO, Richard Shangreaux, Billy Jumping Eagle Jr., and Frankie Jumping Eagle, all of Manderson, SD, Leonard Jumping Eagle of Rapid City, SD, and Antonio Hernandez of Kyle, SD.
Thomas was preceded in death by mother Beverly Janis; brothers Roy Jumping Eagle, Robert Hernandez Sr., Earl Sean Tall, and Hermis Earl Tall; sisters Trinette Hernandez and Yvette Janis; uncles Hank Jumping Eagle and Herman George Tall; grandmothers Rebecca Jumping Eagle, Rachel Crow Janis and Mary Shields-Tall; and grandfathers Robert Jumping Eagle Sr. and Hermis Janis Sr.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Thomas “Hoksila” Leon Black Eyes Jr. Jumping Eagle.
