11/28/2016 - Dorothy McClure Schaefer

Funeral services for Dorothy Irene McClure Schaefer of Harrison, NE, age 92, of Harrison, NE, will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the Church of the Nativity in Harrison, NE with Father Arul Innaiah and Father Bernard Berger officiating. 
 
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Harrison, NE.
 
Pallbearers will be Ron Carter, Mike Bannan, Edgar Hatch, Richard Pullen, Dale Travnicek, and Joe Whiteaker.
 
A memorial has been established for the Harrison Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE69337.

Dorothy passed away on November 21, 2016 at the Ponderosa Villa in Crawford, NE. She was born on May 21, 1924 in Marsland, NE to Milo and Ethel McClure. She was raised in the Andrews and Harrison areas and graduated from Harrison High School in 1942. Later that year, she married George Bernard Schaefer and helped him living and managing the Schaefer Brothers ranch. 
 
On July 24, 1943, she gave birth in Lusk, WY to their only son, Elmer Nicholas Schaefer. In 1949, they acquired a ranch and moved a half mile north of the Village of Harrison so that Elmer could attend Harrison School.
 
Dorothy enjoyed playing volleyball, horseback riding, helping out at the ranch and was a helping and active member of the Altar Society at the Church of the Nativity in Harrison. Together, George and Dorothy contributed to the establishment of the Ponderosa Villa in Crawford and the Harrison Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
 
Dorothy is survived by son Elmer and daughter-in-law Gail of San Diego, CA.
