Funeral services for Wahacanka Paul Shields-Peltier, age 41, will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Apostle Pedro Sharpfish officiating.
Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Ivis Long Visitor.
Burial will be at the Body of Christ Cemetery in Pine Ridge, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD.
Wahacanka was born on May 1, 1975 in Pine Ridge, SD to Leonard Peltier and Audrey Shields. He made his journey to the Spirit World on December 9, 2016 in Arlington, VA.
Wahacanka is survived by father Leonard Peltier of Coleman, FL; mother Audrey Shields of Lawrence, KS; spouse Emily Two Lance of Oglala, SD; sons Michael Murray of Parmelee, SD and Daunte Jealous of Porcupine, SD; daughters Gabrianna Murray of Parmelee, SD and Kobe Two Lance, Kadeen Peltier, and Kaleigha Peltier, all of Oglala, SD; brother Chauncey Peltier of Portland, OR; sisters Marquetta Shields-Peltier, Monique White Bear Claws, and Rebecca Shields, all of Lawrence, KS, Kathy Peltier of Los Angeles, CA, and Lisa Peltier of North Dakota; granddaughter Roselynn Bear Robe of Parmelee, SD; special aunt Agnes Little Hawk of Pine Ridge, SD; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Wahacanka was preceded in death by grandparents Leo Peltier, Alvina Showers, and Hazel (Shields) Little Hawk; aunts Eleanor Red Cloud and Lillian Sharpfish; and uncle Sylvan Little Hawk.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Wahacanka Paul Shields-Peltier.
