Funeral services for Theresa Mae Waters, age 52, will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge, SD with Charles McGaa officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Clifton Waters.
Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Mission Cemetery in Pine Ridge, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge, SD.
Theresa was born on February 5, 1964 in Pine Ridge, SD to Cleveland William Waters and Edna Apple. She made her journey to the Spirit World on December 27, 2016 at the Pine Ridge I.H.S. Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.
Theresa is survived by spouse John Caldwell of Pine Ridge, SD; children Brandon John Caldwell and Jon (Rosie Pulliam) Michael William Caldwell of Pine Ridge, SD, Alyson (James) Sitting Holy of Rushville, NE, and Kari (Joe Shram) Caldwell of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren Marquise, Laura, Payon, and Wyatt Sitting Holy, Jamie, Jueliette, Mikiyela, Isaiah Ethan, Wichapi Tu Win, Emeri, Emily, Billie Jean Red Shirt, and Ashley Spotted Elk; god-children, Briano Parra Munoz and Rebecca Red Shirt; siblings Robert Red Shirt of Pine Ridge, SD, Juliana (Floriberto) Parra Munoz of North Platte, NE, Jerry Bear Shield Sr. of Rapid City, SD, Darrell Blue Bird of Pine Ridge, SD, Clifton, Jenny, Thomas, Franklin, Calvin, Cleveland Jr., William, Edwin, and Wilma Waters, all of Pine Ridge, SD, and Howard Blue Bird of Rapid City, SD; aunts Geraldine Blue Bird and Victoria White Magpie-Waters of Pine Ridge, SD; uncle Albert Waters of Pine Ridge, SD; nephew Jerry Bear Shield Jr. of Rapid City, SD; and foster sister Carol and Harry Whalen.
Theresa was preceded in death by parents Edna Blue Bird Grabbing Bear and Cleveland William Waters; brothers Darrell Spotted Elk and Antoine Blue Bird; cousin Francis Grabbing Bear; nephews Floriberto Parra Munoz Jr., Ruben Fernandez, and Ruben Spotted Elk; uncles Howard and Bryan Blue Bird Sr.; aunts Dorothy American Horse, Regina Grabbing Bear, Emily King, Theresa, Myrtle, Kathryn, Agatha Belle, and Emily Blue Bird; paternal grandparents Paul Waters, Rose Kathren Red Feather, Ernie Waters, Joseph (Kadok) Waters, and Janette Bissonette; grandson Gilbert Lakota III; and all relatives and friends not mentioned.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Theresa Mae Waters.
