Funeral services for Marty Jay Sanders of Chadron, NE will be at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, NE with Pastor Aaron officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron.
A memorial has been established, and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE69337.

Marty passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Chadron Community Hospital. He was born in Chadron, NE on October 21, 1959 to Jess and Doris Sanders. Marty’s education included SOTC School in Sidney, NE in 1967, Gordon Elementary School in Gordon, NE from 1967-1968, BSDC from 7/9/70-5/6/97, Area II Office of Human Development in Scottsbluff from 5/6/87-2/1/93, and Area I Office of Human Development in Chadron 2/1/93 to present.
Marty was a hard worker and has had various jobs in the Chadron community. He made a lasting impression on his co-workers. His main employers included CSC Creative Dining Services and Armstrong Gym, Chadron State Park, mowing at Chamberlain Chapel and laundry at Best Western.
Marty had a fun and rewarding life. He took many vacations, including Rockies games, tubing on the Niobrara River, camping and hiking at Chadron State Park, trips to the Scottsbluff Zoo and the Drifter Cook Shack, and other adventures too numerous to name.
Marty looked forward to his birthday and all holidays. He and his friends celebrated his birthday for months before the day. Marty looked forward to playing Santa Claus at the annual Christmas party. It was a huge secret that everyone knew. He would practice his “Ho Ho Ho” several times a day. No one could ever take a drive with Marty without him waving at every vehicle he passed and playing the never-ending game of slug bug.
Marty was survived by many friends; if you were one of them, you know who you are. Marty will be in our hearts forever.
Surviving family members include siblings Ronald (Karen) Sanders of Kansas City, MO, Jerry (Leslie) Morris of Leavenworth, KS, Diane Ehlers of Gordon, NE, Bonnie (Leonard) Harris of Gordon, NE, Carol Sanders of Chadron, NE, and Mary (Jimmy) Judd of Gordon, NE; aunts Violet Brueckner of Chadron, NE, Jean (Brett) Robertson of Las Vegas, NV, Judy Schenck of Chadron, NE, and Patty (Gerald) Raymer of Chadron, NE; uncle Edwin (Rosemary) Petersen of Chadron, NE; and guardian Gerry Oleson of Crawford, NE. Marty was preceded in death by father Jess (1997) mother Doris (2013).
Chamberlain Chapel is in charge of arrangements for Marty Jay Sanders.
