01/21/2017 - Lavina Ethel Gay

Funeral services for Lavina Ethel Gay “Wanbli Ohanko Win,” age 83, will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Church of God in Wounded Knee, SD with Pastor Stanley Hollow Horn and Pastor Loren Robinson officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by David Swallow.
 
Burial will be at the Johnson Memorial Presbyterian Cemetery in Wounded Knee, SD.
 
A two-night wake service will begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Church of God in Wounded Knee, SD.
 
Lavina was born on December 19, 1933 at home in Wounded Knee, SD to Stephen and Dora (Shot To Pieces) Gay. She made her journey to the Spirit World on January 13, 2017 at Rapid CityRegionalHospital in Rapid City, SD.
 
Lavina is survived by daughters Ethel (Bear Killer) Swallow of Wounded Knee, SD and Darleen Bear Killer of Sharps Corner, SD; son William White Feather of Sharps Corner, SD; sister Martha (Gay) American Horse of Gordon, NE; nieces Martha American Horse-Rossman and Daisy Martinez of Wounded Knee, SD and Annabelle Martinez of Pine Ridge, SD; nephew Leonard Martinez of Wounded Knee, SD; 61 grandchildren; and 47 great-grandchildren. 
 
Lavina was preceded in death by mother Dora Shot To Pieces-Gay; father Stephen Gay; daughter Colleen Good Shield; and sisters Christina Gay Martinez and Daisy Gay American Horse.
 
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Lavina Ethel Gay “Wanbli Ohanko Win.”
