Funeral services for Mavis Pearl (Fast Horse) Lamont “Pte Glasota Win,” age 74, will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Father Joe Doust, S.J., and Sister Barb officiating.
Burial will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Lakota Freedom Veteran’s Cemetery in Kyle, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 4:00 PM on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD.
Mavis was born on June 24, 1942 in Fort Yates, ND to Joseph Fast Horse and Elizabeth Quick Bear. She made her journey to the Spirit World on January 15, 2017 in Martin, SD.
Mavis is survived by spouse Robert Lamont of Wounded Knee, SD; sons Reuben Fast Horse of Rapid City, SD, Carlos Picotte of Fort Yates, ND and Joseph (Marion Red Cloud) Picotte Jr. of Oglala, SD; daughter Lisa (Chuck Richards) Picotte of Rapid City, SD; nephew Jerry Goodhouse of McLaughlin, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mavis was preceded in death by parents Joseph Fast Horse and Elizabeth Quick Bear; brothers Paul, John and Wayne Fast Horse; sister Jean Marie (Fast Horse) Larson; niece Leah Larson; and granddaughter Nadia Sunshine Picotte.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Mavis Pearl (Fast Horse) Lamont “Pte Glasota Win.”
