Funeral services for Edith Marie (Hop) Romey, age 83, will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD with Pastor Paul Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs, SD.
A visitation will be from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD.
A memorial has been established for the Oelrichs Ambulance Fund.

Edith passed away at Ponderosa Villa in Crawford, NE on January 22, 2017. She was born on February 11, 1933 in Hot Springs, SD to Rupert and Veronica (Martin) Osmotherly. She grew up on a ranch south of Hot Springs and attended the Maitland School grades 1-8 and graduated from High School in Hot Springs.
Oliver and Edith were married in Hot Springs on December 6, 1951. To this union, five children were born: Marilyn (Greg) Dueker of Gering, NE, Jeanette (Howard) Heinert of Parmelee, SD, John (Tracy) Romey of Oelrichs, SD, Susan (Bob) Laughlin of Rapid City, SD, and Nadine (Dave Henderson) Horner of Miles City, MT.
Other survivors include grandchildren Diana Stokey, Neal Dueker, Toby Heinert, Chris Heinert, Beau Heinert, Calvin Romey, Cole Romey, Jocelyn Romey, Jacyne Romey, Robert Laughlin, Priscilla Laughlin, Melissa Klunder, Justin Shelstead, Michelle Shelstead, and Kathy Shelstead; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and brothers Jim (Sandy) Osmotherly of Oelrichs, SD and Bill (Ethel) Osmotherly of Crawford, NE.
Edith was involved in 4-H for 35 years as a leader; she taught a lot of children how to sew and bake. She was an avid blood donor and loved to play Bunco, Cribbage and Pitch. Edith enjoyed her bucket calves, calving, gardening, and riding horseback and 4-wheeler. In 2005, she was diagnosed with Dementia.
Edith is preceded in death by parents Rupert and Veronica Osmotherly; husband Oliver Romey; son John Romey; and grandson Jason Laughlin.
