Funeral services for Corwin Joseph Black Bear, age 42, will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church Hall in Manderson, SD with Sister Barb officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Sam Moves Camp.
Burial will be at the St. Agnes Catholic Church Cemetery in Manderson, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin with the first night starting at 1:30 PM on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD. The second night will start at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church Hall in Manderson, SD.
Corwin was born on January 9, 1975 in Pine Ridge, SD to Ambrose New Holy Jr. and Antoinette Black Bear. He made his journey to the Spirit World on January 23, 2017 at the Rapid CityRegionalHospital in Rapid City, SD.
Corwin is survived by father Ambrose New Holy Jr. of Oglala, SD; brothers Phillip Black Bear of Manderson, SD and Darrell Whiskeychan of Quebec, Canada; sisters Jasonya New Holy of Salina, KS, Tia White Face of Rapid City, SD and Samantha Whiskeychan of Quebec, Canada; and uncle Tony Black Bear of Manderson, SD.
Corwin was preceded in death by mother Antoinette Black Bear; brother Don Lloyd Eagle Bull; and grandparents Antoine and Christine Black Bear and Keva and Ambrose New Holy Sr.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Corwin Joseph Black Bear.
