Funeral services for Irene Jane (Takes The Horse) Blue Bird, age 80, will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Father Paul Hall in Porcupine, SD with Father Christopher Johnson, S.J., and Joyce Tibbitts officiating.
Burial will be at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery in Porcupine, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Father Pauly Hall in Porcupine, South Dakota. Rosary services will be at 7:00 PM on Friday, February 3, 2017, also at the Father Pauly Hall in Porcupine, SD
Irene was born on September 12, 1936 in Pine Ridge, SD to Joseph Takes The Horse and Ellen Black Crow. She made her journey to the Spirit World on January 28, 2017 at the Rapid CityRegionalHospital in Rapid City, SD.
Irene is survived by daughters Twila Williams and Thyra Williams of Porcupine, SD; sons Cletus Williams and Donnie Williams of Porcupine, SD and Cecil Red Eyes Jr. of Rapid City, SD; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by parents Joe Takes The Horse and Ellen Black Crow; sons Marvin White Pipe and Ivan White Pipe; and grandchildren Dean Ivan III, Deon Michael Andrews, Cody White Pipe, Jade Good Buffalo, and Jude Good Buffalo.
Pallbearers will be Dean Andrews Jr., Cletus Williams, Don Williams, Cortney Williams, Max Williams, Marvin White Pipe Jr., Lenny Yankton, and Duane Yellow Cloud.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Jane (Takes The Horse) Blue Bird.
