A Mass of Christian Burial for Josephine Gerry, age 88, will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Wanblee CAP Office in Wanblee, SD with Father Rick Abert, S.J., officiating.
Burial will be at 3:00 PM on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Black HillsNationalCemetery in Sturgis, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Wanblee CAP Office in Wanblee, SD. Rosary services will start at 7:00 PM at the CAP Office.
Josephine was born on April 26, 1928 in Potato Creek, SD to Benjamin Sitting Up and Gertie (Breast) Sitting Up. She made her journey to the Spirit World on February 10, 2017 at the KadokaCareCenter in Kadoka, SD.
Josephine is survived by children Arlene Marie Freeman of San Francisco, CA, Benjamin Sitting Up III of Wanblee, SD, Ronald James Sitting Up of Salt Lake City, UT, Harold Gene Sitting Up of Las Vegas, NV, Daynetta Beautiful Bald Eagle of Argyle, SD, Nicholas Baumberger of Minneapolis, MN, Debra Wright of Portland, OR, Frederick Pete Sitting Up of Wanblee, SD, Tony Sitting Up of Lawrence, KS, and Beneva Stevens of San Carlos, AZ; sisters Frances Ashley and Esther Rose Rooks of Wanblee, SD; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Josephine was preceded in death by parents Benjamin and Gertie Sitting Up; spouse Seth Gerry; children Audrey Mae Sitting Up, Thomas Morgan Gerry, John Sitting Up, and Magdaline Sitting Up; brothers Raymond, Earl, Gilbert, Francis, Richard, and Benjamin Sitting Up Jr.; sisters Irene and Dorothy Sitting Up; and grandsons Brett Matthew Freeman and Leonard Joseph Sitting Up.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Josephine Gerry.
