Funeral services for Marty Paul “Jim” Cuny, age 63, will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Makasan Presbyterian Church Hall in Oglala, SD with Elder Madeline Terry and Sister Barb officiating.
Burial will be at the Makasan Presbyterian Cemetery in Oglala, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Makasan Presbyterian Church Hall in Oglala, SD.
Jim was born on March 20, 1954 in Oglala, SD to Vernon Cuny, Sr. and Olive Garnier. He made his journey to the Spirit World on March 24, 2017 in Rapid City, SD.
Jim is survived by children Tashina (Trent) Fogle of Drake, CO, Ezra (Shay) Azure of Fort Collins, CO, Jeremy Pettigrew of Omaha, NE, Myriah Brandis of Spearfish, SD, Cole Brandis of Belle Fourche, SD, and Isabella Garcia of Albuquerque, NM; sisters Karen (Maurice) John of Salamanca, NY, Cynthia Williams of Billings, MT, Connie (Terry) DeMasters of Oglala, SD, Paulette Williamson of Rapid City, SD, and Holly (Marvin) Provost of Sharps Corner, SD; brothers Vernon Cuny Jr. and Wade Cuny of Oglala, SD, Lonnie Cuny of San Antonio, TX, and Protégé Jodean Fast Wolf of Oglala, SD; goddaughter Jaimie Her Many Horses of Kyle, SD; 13 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by parents Vernon Cuny Sr. and Olive Garnier; maternal grandparents Oliver “Flop” Garnier and Evelyn (Tobacco) Garnier (who raised Marty from childbirth); paternal grandparents Adolph Cuny and Mary (Pourier) Cuny; nephews Joe Fast Wolf and Jesse Two Bulls; uncles Will Garnier, Oliver Garnier Jr., and Owen Cuny; and aunt Violette Her Many Horses.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Marty Paul “Jim” Cuny.
