Funeral services for Jeremiah Leroy Swift Hawk, age 4, will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge, SD with Father Peter Klink, S.J., and Charles McGaa officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Rick Grey Grass and Henry Quick Bear.
Burial will be at the Wolf Creek Community Cemetery in Wolf Creek, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge, SD.
Rosary services will be at 7:00 PM on Friday, April 7, 2017, also at the Billy Mills Hall.
Jeremiah was born on February 5, 2013 in Pine Ridge, SD to Wilbur Swift Hawk and Misty Buckman. He made his journey to the Spirit World on March 31, 2017 at the Sanford USD Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Jeremiah is survived by parents Wilbur Swift Hawk and Misty Buckman of Pine Ridge, SD; brothers Jesse Swift Hawk and Xavier Buckman of Pine Ridge, SD; grandparents Cecelia Kills Small of Wolf Creek, Ollie Big Crow of Pine Ridge, SD, and Gerold Swift Hawk of Spring Creek, SD; great-grandmother Nellie Buckman of Pine Ridge, SD; and aunts and uncles Billie Jo (Richard) Greenwald, Jolene (Charles) Pourier, Joyce (Dusty) Whirlwind Horse, Jade (Kyle Brings Plenty) Buckman, Clifford (Mary Red Hawk) Buckman, Vernon Buckman, Timothy Buckman, and Herb Big Crow Jr., all of Pine Ridge, SD, Autumn (Terrance) Little Moon of Wolf Creek, SD, Tia Big Crow of Fort Lee, VA, John Swift Hawk, Lloyd Big Crow, and Corina Sitting Bear, all of Rapid City, SD, and Jenny Andrews of West Palm Beach, FL.
Jeremiah was preceded in death by grandfathers Clifford Buckman and Herb Big Crow Sr; great-grandparents Christine Makes Shine, Cornelius Kills Small, Earl and Edna Swift Hawk, James and Marcella Big Crow, and Vernon Buckman; and aunt Angel Buckman.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Jeremiah Leroy Swift Hawk.
