Funeral services for Tanya Dawn Standing Soldier “Winyan Waste Win,” age 42, will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge, SD with Charles McGaa officiating.
Burial will be at St. John’s Episcopal Cemetery in Oglala, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge, SD.
Tanya Dawn Standing Soldier was born on May 4, 1974 in Pine Ridge, SD to Duane Hollow Horn Bear and Wanda (Pumpkin Seed) Silva. She made her journey to the Spirit World on March 31, 2017 in Rapid City, SD.
Tanya is survived by husband Donald Standing Soldier of Pine Ridge, SD; father Duane Hollow Horn Bear of Rosebud, SD; children Edward (Jordan) Red Feather of Rapid City, SD, Walter Morin III of Ft. Thompson, SD, Keith Morin of Grand Forks, ND, and James Morin, Angel Hanson, Denise Hanson, Dominick Standing Soldier and Dalton Standing Soldier, all of Pine Ridge, SD; brothers Alden Pumpkin Seed of Pine Ridge, SD, Allan Gilbert Sr. of Sioux Falls, SD and Clifford Gilbert of Rapid City, SD; sister Michelle Curley of Pine Ridge, SD; aunt Linda Pumpkin Seed of Pine Ridge, SD; and cousin Ronald Pumpkin Seed of Pine Ridge, SD.
Tanya was preceded in death by biological mother Wanda (Pumpkin Seed) Silva; adopted mother Doris Pumpkin Seed; sisters Colleen Black Elk, Nevalyn Gilbert and Sharon Janis; cousin Francis Pumpkin Seed; and grandparents Ira and Eva (Red Ear Horse) Elk Boy.
