Funeral services for Cecil Charles Little Hawk Sr. “Cetan Cikala,” age 88, will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge, SD with Reverend Harold Eagle Bull and Reverend Rhoda Mesteth officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Chris Brooks.
Burial will be at the Advent Cemetery in Calico, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge, SD.
Cecil was a veteran in the U.S. Army (Korean War Sergeant).
Cecil was born on September 27, 1928 at home in Allen, SD to Charles and Ellaria (Sierra) Little Hawk. He made his journey to the Spirit World on April 5, 2017 at the PineRidgeI.H.S.Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.
Cecil is survived by son Cecil (Mary) Little Hawk Jr. of Calico, SD; daughters Loretta Little Hawk of Calico, SD and Jane (Dan) Rodriguez of Pine Ridge, SD; brothers Stanley Little Hawk Sr. and Charles Severiano Little Hawk of Calico, SD; sisters Violet Little Hawk-Alford of Pine Ridge, SD and Bessie Little Hawk-Waters of Calico, SD; grandchildren Deneshia Little Hawk, Danny (Shanna) Rodriguez, and Renae Rodriguez, all of Wolf Creek Community near Pine Ridge, SD, Shelly Rodriguez of Calico, SD, Missy (Melvin Rossman) Rodriguez of Pine Ridge, SD, Bee Jay Little Hawk of Pine Ridge, SD, Jerrel “JJ” (Alecia) Rodriguez of Rapid City, SD, Cecil (Emily) Little Hawk III, Rosie Little Hawk, Austin (Charlie Jo) Little Hawk, Kelly Little Hawk, Allison (Charles) Weston, and Mariah Weston, all of Calico, SD, and Michelle Weston and Reuben (Summer) Weston of Porcupine, SD; and great-grandchildren Nikiya, Chaz, Lazaha, Janiya, JoDessa, Tayliah and Liri Rodriguez, Shaysie Oines, Dontae and Kaitlyn Patton, Taysean Schriener, Domonic Ghost Bear, Tianna Goings, Quincy Tallman Little Hawk, Deon, Dillon, Julian and Zoey Lewis, Christine, Jerrod, and Brayton Two Bulls, Charlie and Ryan Ward, Zayne, Robert, Rylan, Emily, Sarayah, and Gia Weston, Pamela Little Hawk, Olivia Little Hawk, Peyton Ward, and Devon Duane Little Hawk.
Cecil was preceded in death by parents Charles and Ellaria (Sierra) Little Hawk; wife Leona Poor Bear-Little Hawk; children Duane Herman Little Hawk and Evelyn Emily Little Hawk; brothers Herman Little Hawk, Richard Little Hawk Sr., Peter Little Hawk, and Lawrence Little Hawk; sisters Bessie Little Hawk and Semona Little Hawk; and grandchildren Deanna Little Hawk, April Little Hawk, Johnny Joseph Rodriguez, and Maka Mani Rodriguez.
