Funeral services for Herbert Black Bear Jr., age 51, will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Wakpamni CAP Office near Pine Ridge, SD with Pastor Elton Yellow Boy officiating.
Burial will be at the Holy Cross Episcopal Cemetery in Pine Ridge, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Wakpamni CAP Office near Pine Ridge, SD.
Herbert was born on February 11, 1967 in Pine Ridge, SD to Herbert Black Bear Sr. and Rena Ground Spider. He made his journey to the Spirit World on March 21, 2018 in Tacoma, WA.
Herbert is survived by daughter Rhiannon Basil of Seattle, WA and siblings Feanette Black Bear of Kent, WA, Lovella Black Bear of Seattle, WA, Everette Black Bear of Tacoma, WA, Darla Black Bear of Grand Coulee, WA, Beryl Black Bear of Auburn, WA, Jeryl Black Bear of Nespelen, WA, Darlene Black Bear of Rapid City, SD, Darrell Blue Bird of Pine Ridge, SD, Michelle Holland of Marshall, MN, and Natalie Farnau of O’Neill, NE.
Herbert was preceded in death by parents Herbert Black Bear Sr. and Rena Ground Spider; sister Colleen Dornish; aunt Mary Warrior; nephew Joseph Allen Fisherman; maternal grandparents Joseph Allen Ground Spider and Elizabeth Iron Heart; and paternal grandparents William Black Bear and Annie Crow.
