04/05/2018 - Morris 'MoRock' Holy Rock Jr.
Funeral services for Morris “MoRock” Gilbert Holy Rock Jr., age 47, will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church Hall in Manderson, SD. All Spiritual Leaders are welcome to participate in the traditional Lakota services.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Grass Creek Community of Manderson, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin with the first night at 3:00 PM on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Wounded Knee District CAP Office in Manderson, SD. The second night will begin at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church Hall in Manderson, SD. Prayer services will be at 7:00 PM each evening during the wake services.
Morris was born on September 29, 1970 in Pine Ridge, SD to Morris Holy Rock Sr. and Theresa (Black Bear) Bad Milk. He made his journey to the Spirit World on April 2, 2018 at his home in Manderson, SD.
Morris is survived by sister Meredith Black Bear of Manderson, SD; brother Gaylen (Shirley) Holy Rock of Oglala, SD; children Morris Holy Rock III, Frank Holy Rock, Summer Looks Twice, Fannie Holy Rock, John Holy Rock, and Morissa Holy Rock, all of Manderson, SD; special friend Corrina Apple of Manderson, SD; stepchildren Tiana Cuny, Kassandra Cuny, Brandon Cuny, and Kara Cuny, all of Rapid City, SD; nieces and nephews Michael DeLeon, Rhonda Jumping Eagle, Heidi Black Bear, and Chris Black Bear, all of Manderson, SD, and Gaylen Jr., Billie, Randee, and Calvin Holy Rock, all of Oglala, SD; and grandchildren Kaydence Packed, Kandace Holy Rock, Thomas Holy Rock, Lorenzo Holy Rock, D’oran Holy Rock, Devin Holy Rock, Aubree Holy Rock, Louis Belt Jr., Jennah Shott, Chris Shott, Jedidiah Holy Rock, Hayden Jumping Eagle, Brayden Harris, and Zuey Harris.
Morris was preceded in death by mother Theresa Black Bear-Bad Milk; father Morris Holy Rock Sr.; sons Jacob and Lorenzo Holy Rock; maternal grandparents Thomas and Fannie (Spotted Owl) Black Bear; paternal grandparents Frank “Salo” Holy Rock and Adelia LeBeau; brothers Aloysius Black Bear, Corwin Black Bear, and Roy Jumping Eagle; and stepson David Cuny Jr.
