Funeral services for 78-year old Jessie Ann (Blacksmith) Bear Robe will be Saturday, May 5, at 11:00 AM at Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD, with Sister Barb Bogenschutz officiating and traditional Lakota services with Mr. Ivis Long Visitor Sr.
Burial will be at St. Peter’s Episcopal Cemetery, Lakeside, Oglala, SD
A one-night wake service will be held Friday, May, at 11:30 AM, also at Brother Rene Hall, with Rosary Services starting at 8:00 PM.
Jessie Ann (Blacksmith) Bear Robe was born on May 17, 1939 at Mission Flat to Harold Sierra and Mary (Bear Robe) Waters. Jessie made her journey to the Spirit World on April 29, 2018 at the Oglala Lakota Sioux Nursing Home near White Clay, NE.
Jessie is survived by her daughters, Liz (Orin) Morrison, Melissa Blacksmith, Lenora Blacksmith, Karen Blacksmith, and Julie Blacksmith all of Oglala, SD, Sage Blacksmith of Calico, SD, Jenny Brewer of Pine Ridge, SD, and Santi Yellow Horse of Rapid City, SD; sons, Stan Blacksmith, Delayne Blacksmith, and Doyle Bad Heart Bull all of Oglala, SD, and Clyde Blacksmith of White Horse, SD; sister, Florence Sierra of Batesland, SD; brother, Archie Sierra of Batesland, SD; 38 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Sierra and Mary (Bear Robe) Waters; sons, Pete “June” Blacksmith and Robert Blacksmith; daughters, Eldean Blacksmith and Jayne Black Tail Deer; sisters, Betty Jones, Stella Two Bulls, and Delores Sierra; brother, Harlen Waters; grandsons, Dominic Blacksmith, Kyle Blacksmith, and Joseph Paul Blacksmith; and great granddaughter, Enzo Kills Small-Looks Twice.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements for Jessie Ann (Blacksmith) Bear Rob.
