Funeral services for Marquis Fay Mesteth Jr., age 37, will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church Hall in Manderson, SD with Father Edmund Yainao, S.J., and Joyce Tibbitts officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Mike Catches.
Burial will be at the Janis Family Cemetery in Manderson, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 1:30 PM on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church Hall in Manderson, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM each night.
Marquis was born on December 15, 1980 in Pine Ridge, SD to Marquis Mesteth Sr. and Charlene Faye Janis. He made his journey to the Spirit World on May 15, 2018 in Manderson, SD.
Marquis is survived by spouse Leticia Mesteth of Box Elder, SD; children Jonathan Mesteth, Jordan Mesteth, Bradley Mesteth, Marquis Mesteth III, Monique Mesteth, and Deanna Martin, all of Box Elder, SD; hunka son Christian Twiss of Manderson, SD; mother LaVonne Mesteth of Manderson, SD; brothers Correy D. (Linette Gibbons) Clifford of Rapid City, SD, Derek (Helene Bagola) Janis of Pine Ridge, SD, and Casey Mesteth and George (Lisha Spotted Horse) Mesteth of Manderson, SD; sisters Marti (Giovanni) Ciccia of Killeen, TX, Amber D. (Robert Red Eagle) Mesteth of Rapid City, SD, Daneen (Robert Lopez) Martin and Tanya Janis of Pine Ridge, SD, and Maxine Mesteth and Sandra Mesteth of Manderson, SD; granddaughter Nate’a Pourier of Pine Ridge, SD; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Marquis was preceded in death by mother Charlene Faye Janis; father Marquis Mesteth Sr.; daughter Danielle Martin; and grandparents Bertha Yellow Hawk, Kenneth Janis Sr., and Max and Cecelia (Black Bear) Mesteth.
