Funeral services for Genevieve M. Long a.k.a. Jeneva Black Cat Long, age 60, will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 8, 2018 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Pastor Curtis Hoyt officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Adam Little Elk and Ronald Mousseaux Sr.
Burial will be at Our Lady of the Sioux Catholic Cemetery in Oglala, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM each night.
Genevieve was born on November 24, 1957 in Pine Ridge, SD to David Long Black Cat Sr. and Ramona Catches The Enemy. She made her journey to the Spirit World on May 29, 2018 at Rapid CityRegionalHospital in Rapid City, SD.
Genevieve is survived by mother Ramona Long of Calico Community; children Justin (Sheryl Starr) Mousseaux, Lydell Mousseaux, David (Miranda) Mousseaux, and Ronald (Annie Walking) Mousseaux, all of Pine Ridge, SD; siblings Marilyn (Cross Dog) Deer of Desoto, WI, Linn Cross Dog of Calico Community, Lois Long of Minneapolis, MN, Beverly Long of Pine Ridge, SD, Ivan Long of Red Lodge, MT, Gilman Long and Sam Long of Pine Ridge, SD, Missy Long of Orlando, FL, Anthony Long and John Wayne Long of Pine Ridge, SD, Bart Long of Mission Flat, Evangeline Long of Pine Ridge, SD, and Mercy Long of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren Osheanna Mousseaux, Blanche Mousseaux, Austin Mousseaux, Destin Mousseaux, David Mousseaux Jr., Manuel Mousseaux, Lahonna Mousseaux, Oliver Mousseaux, Jalissa Mousseaux, Lariah Mousseaux, Taylor Ann Mousseaux, Obadiah Mousseaux, and Monroe Mousseaux; and nieces and nephews Darwin Long, Narda Long, Tina Long, Francis Long, Karen Long, Shannon Long, Xavier Long, Adrian Long, Brian Long, Dale Garnier, Myra Garnier, and Stanley Garnier.
Genevieve was preceded in death by father David Long Black Cat; son Matthew John Mousseaux; sister Esther Long; brothers Vern Long, Milton Cross Dog, Francis Long, and Manuel Long; grandchildren Desmond Wayne Mousseaux, Sioux Dawn Rae Mousseaux, and one grandchild in infancy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
