Funeral services for 77-year old Ethel Lucille Backward will be Monday, June 18, 2018 at 10:00 a-m in Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge, SD, with Father Edmund Yainao, S.J. and Mr. Charles McGaa officiating

Burial Services will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery, Slim Buttes, SD

A one-night wake service will be held Sunday, June 17, 2018 starting at 2:00 PM, also at Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge with Rosary services there at 7:00 PM

Ethel Lucille Backward was born on February 8, 1941 in Pine Ridge, SD to Aloysius Morrison and Lillian Elk.  Ethel passed away on June 12, 2018 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD. 

Ethel is survived by her children, Ron Morrison, Lucy Backward, Archie Backward, Audrey Backward, Austin Backward, Jr., Anthony Backward, Alan Backward, and Thelma Backward all of Pine Ridge, SD; brother, Bill Morrison of Pine Ridge, SD; sisters, Linda Janis and Arlene Morrison both of Pine Ridge, SD;

She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, John Long, Jon Garnier, Louis Long, Jake Pond, Juwon Garnier, Derek Black Elk, Justin Backward, Ron Elliot, Archie Backward, Jr., Riley Backward, Desaree Janis, Lindsey Long, Patric Backward, Jonathan Black Elk, Brittany Backward, Andrew Backward, Lars Backward, Rochelle Backward, Eric Mesteth, Jana Stands, Jammi Backward, Dreyonne Backward, Taquin Backward, Michael Dean Backward, and Savannah Backward; and 15 great-grandchildren, Aiden Backward, Austin Backward, Shay Long, Maddy Long, Peyton Long, Jordyn Long, Jemini Long, Cecelia Backward, Darien Black Elk, Addy Goings, Aarika Backward, Andrew Backward, Jr., Bryson Backward, Dawson Backward, and Teyton Backward.

Ethel was preceded in death by her spouse, Austin Backward, Sr.; parents, Aloysius Morrison and Lillian Elk; brother, Carl Morrison; and grandchildren, Bradley Backward, Kole Backward, and Jesse Backward
