06/28/2018 - Salvatore Joseph Gentle
A Mass of Christian Burial for Salvatore Joseph Gentle, age 93, will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Rapid City, SD with Father Ed Witt, S.J., officiating.
Burial will be at the Morgan-Pourier Family Cemetery on Slimbuttes Road near Pine Ridge, SD.
Rosary services will begin at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Rapid City, SD.
Salvatore was born on April 2, 1925 in Milwaukee, WI to George and Lucy (Cianciola) Gentile. He passed away on June 20, 2018 at his home in Rapid City, SD.
Salvatore was raised in Waterloo, IA and graduated high school from CampionHigh School in Prairie Du Chien, WI in 1940. After high school, Salvatore went on to become part of the Society of Jesus and was ordained on June 12, 1957. He spent many years as a Jesuit before he left the Jesuit Community and worked as a director for the Red Cross and lastly at the South Dakota State Emergency Management for the F.E.M.A. program until his retirement, where he resided in Rapid City, SD.
Salvatore is survived by nieces and nephews David Gentle, Salvatore Crivello, Mary T. Imbriani, Rosemarie Chilinski, Christopher Gentle, and Ann Marie, Maggie, and Anthony Crivello.
Salvatore was preceded in death by parents George and Lucy Gentile; brother Tony Gentle; and sisters Sister Rose Gentle and Frances Crivello.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Salvatore Joseph Gentle.
