07/10/2018 - Ludmila ‘Lil’ Morava Mansfield

A memorial service for Ludmila ‘Lil’ Morava Mansfield, age 62, of Crawford, NE will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Agate Fossil Beds National Monument with Pastor Matt Parker officiating.
 
Graveside funeral services were held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Glendale Cemetery in Glen, NE with Pastor Matt Parker officiating. Pallbearers were Slim Reece, John Reece, Ralph Reece, Joseph Morava, Jim Berenick, and Roger McCoy.  
 
A memorial has been established for the Harrison Volunteer Fire Department. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Lil passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at her home near Glen, NE surrounded by friends and family. She was born on July 8, 1955 at the DepaulHospital in Cheyenne, WY to Joseph M. Joska and Marie L. Krejci Joska of Pine Bluffs, WY. Lil grew up on the family farm near Bushnell, NE and graduated from Pine Bluffs High School in 1973. After graduation, Lil attended Chadron State College.
 
While attending Chadron State College, she met Edward H. Morava. The two married on September 18, 1976. Ed and Lil moved to the Harris Ranch on the NiobraraRiver west of Marsland, NE. To this union, two children were born. Joseph Buck Morava was born on August 26, 1979 and Jessica Jane Morava Hayhurst was born on February 9, 1982.
 
During this 20-year marriage, Lil helped Ed raise Longhorn cattle, race horses and Beef Master cattle, participated in the barrel racing event in local rodeos, won the Pine Bluffs Queen contest, and became a Mary Kay beauty consultant and homemaker. Lil became a very active supporter of the Sioux County High School Warriors athletics program, worked at Sioux Sundries Restaurant and worked as a home health caregiver.
 
In 1996, Lil accepted a job with the National Park Service at Agate Fossil Beds National Monument. This job started a 20-plus year career that included becoming a Red Carded firefighter, a natural resource technician and a Visitor Use Assistant. Lil became very involved in all aspects of the visitor support services at Agate. She loved to present interpretive programs to school groups, both on site and at local schools. She became a leader in the Distance Learning Program and very much enjoyed identifying wildflowers for visitors.
 
On June 16, 2007, Lil married Kelly D. Mansfield of Crawford, NE. She continued to live and work at their ranch on White River and maintained her career at Agate Fossil Beds until her death. Lil loved working with all sorts of animals, especially horses.
 
Lil is survived by husband Kelly D. Mansfield of Crawford, NE; son Joseph (Joey) Buck Morava and wife Tasha of Marsland, NE; daughter Jessica (Jessi) Jane Morava Hayhurst of Waco, TX, mother Marie L. Joska of Kimball, NE; sisters Helen Quick of Arvada, CO and Rose M. Miller of Bushnell, NE; uncle and aunt George and Belva Krejci of Alliance, NE; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
 
Lil is preceded in death by father Joseph M. Joska, in-laws Ralph and Angeline Morava; uncles James Joska, Fritz Joska, Tony Joska, Frank Joska, and Edward Krejci; and aunt Marie Joska Berenick.
 
Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements for Ludmila ‘Lil’ Morava Mansfield.
