Funeral services for Ruth Esther Weston, age 79, will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Porcupine School Gym in Porcupine, SD with Reverend Stanley Hollow Horn and Reverend Simon Looking Elk officiating.
Burial will be at the Porcupine Presbyterian Cemetery in Porcupine, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Porcupine School Gym in Porcupine, SD, with prayer services starting at 7:00 PM on Monday evening.
Ruth was born on September 18, 1938 at the I.H.S Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD. She was born to Gilbert and Nancy (Brown Eyes) Weston. She passed away at Rapid City Regional Hospital in the early morning of June 28, 2018.
Ruth went to elementary school at Porcupine Day School in Porcupine, SD. She went to high school at Pine Ridge High School and received her GED from Oglala Lakota College. Ruth joined the teacher corps after high school and went to college at Black Hills State where she received her teaching degree. She was a life long educator. She taught at Porcupine School, Little Wound School, Loneman School, and Pine Ridge School. Ruth had an only son Keith “Chuck” Weston. He passed away in 1979. Ruth retired from teaching in 2014. She moved east of Porcupine, SD where she grew up.
Ruth had a very kind heart. She treated everyone with compassion and love. She always wanted to help everyone and was always happy to see the grandkids. She loved all of them greatly.
She is survived by sister Violet (Weston) Robinson; many cousins, nieces, nephews; and hunka son Samuel Trueblood.
Ruth was preceded in death by parents Gilbert and Nancy Weston; 8 brothers; 3 sisters; and 1 son.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Ruth Esther Weston.
