07/16/2018 - Anne (Around Him) Fineran
Funeral services for Anne Margaret (Around Him) Fineran “Tahin Yangli Wajin Win,” age 97, will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Porcupine School Gym in Porcupine, SD with Father Ed Hunt and Lay Minister Anthony Wounded Head. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Rick Two Dogs.
Burial will be at the Fineran Family Cemetery in Yellow Bear Canyon near Allen, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 1:00 PM on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the Porcupine School Gym in Porcupine, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.
Anne was born on January 3, 1921 at home in Porcupine, SD to John Around Him Sr. and Emily Iron Cloud. She made her journey to the Spirit World on July 8, 2018 at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Anne served on many boards around the Pine Ridge area since 1975. Among those were the School Board, Personnel Board, College Board, Housing Board, Ethics Board, and the Health Board until she retired in 2004.
Anne is survived by spouse of 64 years Dale Fineran of Allen, SD; children Martin Fineran of Castle Rock, CO, Myron Fineran, Milton Fineran, and Marlin Fineran, all of Allen, SD, and Terrial Fineran of Winner, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Anne was preceded in death by parents John Around Him Sr. and Emily Iron Cloud; brothers George Iron Cloud and John Around Him Jr.; and sisters Elizabeth Around Him and Dora Around Him Young Dog.
