Funeral services for Louis John Her Many Horses, age 87, will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Sister Barb Bogenschutz and Father Joe Daoust, S.J., officiating.
Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Wounded Knee, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Rosary services at 7:00 PM.
Louis was a veteran in the U.S. Airforce.
Louis John Her Many Horses was born on October 2, 1930 in Wounded Knee, SD to Taylor and Emily (Matthews) Her Many Horses. He made his journey to the Spirit World on August 12, 2018 at the Oglala Sioux Lakota Nursing Home near White Clay, NE.
Louis is survived by children Sheryl Her Many Horses, Robin Her Many Horses, and Leonard Her Many Horses, all of Oglala, SD, and Clayton Ten Fingers of Wounded Knee, SD; brother Michael Her Many Horses of Wounded Knee, SD; aunt Lillian Red Star of Wounded Knee, SD; 28 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Louis was preceded in death by parents Taylor and Emily Her Many Horses; children Louis J. Her Many Horses Jr., Luann Her Many Horses, and Allan Dean Her Many Horses; brothers Leo Her Many Horses Sr., Everett Her Many Horses, Cleve Her Many Horses, and Bill Her Many Horses; sister Rita Stoldt; and grandsons Jordan Her Many Horses, Richard Ten Fingers III, and Joseph Her Many Horses.
