09/08/2018 - Robin Whirlwind Horse
Funeral services for Robin Lee Whirlwind Horse, age 45, will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Youth Center in Allen, SD with Pastor Tim Wardell officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by James Cross.
Burial will be at the Salway Family Cemetery in Allen, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 12:00 PM on Thursday and Friday, September 6-7, 2018 at the Youth Center in Allen, SD.
Robin was born on April 19, 1973 in Sidney, NE to Arveal and Loretta (Scout) Whirlwind Horse. He made his journey to the Spirit World on August 30, 2018 at the Bennett County Hospital in Martin, SD.
Robin attended school at the American Horse Day School and graduated high school in 1991 at Little Wound High School in Kyle, SD. After high school, Robin worked at Cedar Pass, American Horse School, Bennett County Nursing Home and was a Public Safety Officer for the Oglala Sioux Tribe, a Security Officer for East Wind Casino, and an Unexploded Ordinance Technician with the Badlands Bombing Range and Native American Environmental.
Robin is survived by siblings Warren and Monte Yellow Hair and Lori Whirlwind Horse, all of Allen, SD, Corey Whirlwind Horse, Tammy Whirlwind Horse, and Loretta “La” Whirlwind Horse, all of Rapid City, SD, Julie (Perry) Thunder Hawk of Martin, SD, and Ann (Roger) Campbell of Wichita, KS ; children Dally Whirlwind Horse, Tristan Whirlwind Horse, and Robyn Whirlwind Horse, all of Martin, SD, Kiana Whirlwind Horse of Rapid City, SD, Dante Witt, Kamilla Sioux Calf, and Kerron Sioux Calf, all of Martin, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Robin was preceded in death by parents Loretta and Arveal; siblings Jim Yellow Hair, Patty Sitting Bear and Loren Whirlwind Horse; aunts Darlene Cross, Clara Poor Bear-Garcia, Angie Reyes, and Rochelle Lone Wolf; uncle Wayne Whirlwind Horse; and cousin Bobbi Kaye Hacker.
